One of our favourite recent finds, this small gilt mirror dates to the early part of the 1800's and has the original gilding which has worn over time revealing the underlying bole and gesso. The understated decoration of a single row of beads on the inner part of the frame are all in good condition and the original foxed mirror plate is fabulously evocative and rather sought after.

There is paint around the back of the outside of the frame, possibly from where this was integrated into panelling. There is evidence of historic woodworm on the sides and back of the frame which is long gone but has been treated as a precaution.

This could be landscape or portrait but has been strung to hang portrait at the moment.
