Framed impressionist pastel by William Mason
A charming impressionist pastel depicting a lady in her garden - the artist, William Mason was famed for his 'Gardening' series of work of which this is one. Beautiful softeness and sensitivity. Signed W.M. in the corner (as he commonly did).
Welsh born William Mason was a regular exhibitor with the McClelland Galleries in Belfast and at the Royal Academy and is considered one of the leading C20th British Impressionists. He studied at Newport College of Art from 1923-1927, the Royal College of Art from 1927-1931, and later taught at Scarborough School of Art and at St. Albans School of Art.
Framed in a contemporary frame with glass.
