Antique gingerbread mold B
Tax included.
A C19th Dutch carved gingerbread mold or more technically a 'speculaasplank'! These wooden planks were relief carved with different decorations and used to make spiced biscuits for St Nicholas' Eve on December 5th in Flanders. This example shows a young lady in traditional dress and would often be displayed with her male counterpart. As pieces of folk art they're now rather collectable and they make wonderful kitchen decoration - especially considering the scale of this example. This has a hole in the centre whiich is probably where there was a knot in the timber which has shrunk with time and fallen out. Otherwise it's in good condition.
