A charming antique oil on board c.1900 which has been recently framed in an ornate gilt wood frame. The Madonna & Child are a classical subject matter and the colouring is close to work from the Renaissance period with Mary in a deep red tunic to represent her divinity and humanity, but this has a more folksy, naive style and is probably a provincial European copy from the late C19th.
