A gorgeous late C19th scandinavian bentwood tine box in completely untouched condition with the original, authentically worn sage green paint. A wonderful example of craftsmanship and folk art.

Historically, tines like this were widely used on Norwegian farms as practical storage for food such as butter, cheese, flatbread, and dried goods, but also to store sewing supplies and personal valuables. Often tines were given as wedding gifts, making them both functional and symbolic household objects.

There is a very small indication of historical woodworm which has long gone but has been fully treated as a precaution (as shown in pictures).
